brother was right...mind blown.

My brother sent me this video yesterday with two words attached to it: mind blown. He wasn't kidding.

music is my savior and i was maimed by rock & roll.

Being There was my first Wilco album. Right from the start (Misunderstood), I was hooked hard on what Jeff Tweedy had to say and the sounds they were capable of producing. It was different than anything I'd ever heard, and while I'm more aware of more artists that sound like or share similarities with Wilco, there still is no one like them. I was watching/listening to their documentary I Am Trying to Break Your Heart (again) while cleaning my apartment tonight and for some reason, the live version of "Sunken Treasure" Tweedy plays during the film hit me in a unexpected, firm way. I stopped cleaning and sat down to listen. And then I went youtubing, and this is what I found, with just over one hundred views. Yes + please. I've been listening to Yankee Hotel Foxtrot over and over the last couple of days, but now I suppose it's time to turn to Being There.

if you don't know what to make of this, then we will not relate.

Because I hadn't visited Fuel/Friends Blog in about a month (I regret that move, even though it wasn't intentional), I have been allowed to scour the site and subsequently have been provided with loads of new music that has forced my ass to the chair and the volume to 100%. For that, I'm so very thankful (keep up the good work, HPB).

One of those bands I'm currently covered in is The Head and the Heart. Below are four videos, all from a post-show set in a Tacoma parking garage. If you love music, you'll love these songs. It's what music is all about, especially live. Raw, emotional, intense, beautiful. Lyrically, musically, it's just all there. It's almost too much to take in at first listen. The performances below leave me happy and speechless. And now it's your turn.
